You expected the painting to be alright. It is not alright, it is good, and you have said so twice before you have decided to: なかなか.
With a positive it is better than expected. With a negative it is not easily: なかなか来ない, he is taking forever. かなり is plainly quite, and むしろ is rather as in on the contrary.
