さがる
to come down, to hang down, to fall
Whatever was up comes down 下 on its own, sagging as it goes, and the thermometer finally agrees with everybody. Nobody pulled it down: さがる.
上がる あがる is the same movement the other way. 下りる おりる is coming down off something and 落ちる おちる is falling. 秋 あき is the other fall, the season.
