Mnemonic

The self, and the mark saying do that one again, so selves in the plural. Where わ, eh れ, where わ, eh れ, said from a podium by somebody speaking for everybody in the room: われわれ.

Worth knowing

々 repeats the character before it, so this is 我我. Formal and a shade grand. 私たち わたしたち is the everyday we.

Not a kanji. Typesetters call it ノマ because that is what it looks like, katakana ノ sat on マ. It means repeat the character before it, so 色々 is 色色 and 人々 is 人人. Formally it is a 踊り字, a dancing mark.
