だく
to hug, to hold in one's arms
The same wrapped arms as 抱える, except that what is in them this time is warm and would rather be somewhere else. A duck だく would sit stiller. Grandma has the cat: だく.
Same 抱 as 抱える かかえる, to carry in your arms. That one is a load, this one is a person or an animal.
