はなつ
to emit, to set free, to shoot (e.g. an arrow or bullet)
A direction with a strike behind it. Point the thing and let go. The same はな as the flower and the nose, except that this one is loosed: an arrow, a bird, or the smell off something left in the sun: はなつ.
放す はなす is letting go, and 放送 ほうそう is broadcasting, the same idea aimed outward.
