Mnemonic

Grass on top, and underneath it something caught halfway through turning. The same はな as the nose, and this is the thing you put your nose in. One stem in a jar and the whole room is different: はな.

Worth knowing

Later comes 鼻 はな, nose, which sounds identical. 花見 はなみ is flower viewing.
