はなす
to separate, to detach
The bird goes off the branch and that is that, nothing holding it. The same はなす as talking, except that this one lets go rather than puts out. A small hand in a car park is the one thing you do not: はなす.
Same reading as 話す, to talk. 話 has 言 speech in it and 離 has the bird leaving, so the character tells you which one you are looking at.
