ひと
person
On a packed train a heel comes down on your toe and you surface ready to fight. It's just a bloke, wincing back at you. Heel, toe. ひと.
Same kanji as 人 じん, which only ever hangs off the end of a country name. ひと is the standalone word for a person. 方 かた is the polite word for a person and 者 もの the plainer one.
